Breeders’ Cup Classic television rating falls

NBC’s primetime broadcast of the Breeders’ Cup Classic Saturday received a 1.4 overnight rating, down from the 2.2 overnight rating a year ago, according to Neilsen Co. numbers released by the network.

NBC noted that last year’s broadcast had help from the lead of the triple overtime win by eventual BCS championship runner-up Notre Dame against Pitt. That game ran into the beginning of the Classic broadcast.
